Expreso Bavaro provides public transportation between Santo Domingo and Punta Cana. The bus ride takes 3 1/2 hours. Current Bus schedules and times here.

The new Coral Highway is open, decreasing the driving time between Punta Cana and Santo Domingo by an hour. Expreso Bavaro, the only express bus transportation between Punta Cana and Santo Domingo, has taken full advantage of this by purchasing new buses, adding more buses to their schedule, and streamlining their route to include both Bavaro and Punta Cana on every trip.

With the recent opening of the new Coral Highway, the driving time between Santo Domingo and Punta Cana has been significantly reduced. You can now drive from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) to Casa de Campo, in La Romana, in only 45 minutes. Even though the new Coral Highway bypasses Higuey and goes straight to La Romana, it is not 100% complete. Eventually, you will also be able to bypass La Romana saving even more time.

As a result of the new highway, travel between Punta Cana and Santo Domingo is much more convenient.

Expreso Bavaro provides public transportation between Santo Domingo and Punta Cana. What used to be a 4+ hour trip, has now been shortened to about 3 1/2 hours. Expreso Bavaro has purchased a whole new line of buses, complete with onboard bathrooms, and has changed their hours of operation to better accomodate travelers and tourists alike, heading towards their final vacation destination in Punta Cana.

There used to be separate schedules for Punta Cana, Bavaro and Veron. With the new bus route and the completion of the new Coral Highway, all buses now pass through Punta Cana, Bavaro and Veron. They also stop at both airports (or at least as close as possible in the case of Las American SDQ). Here is an example of where the bus stops between Santo Domingo and Punta Cana and visa versa.

The price to take Expreso Bavaro between Punta Cana and Santo Domingo remains the same at $375RD is now $400RD pesos (or roughly $10 USD). You must purchase your ticket at the time of your trip. There is no option to purchase tickets in advance. You must purchase your ticket the day of departure at one of the following locations.

The air conditioning on the bus ride between Punta Cana and Santo Domingo can get quite cold. It would be wise to bring a sweater! Also, because of the shorter transportation time between Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, and the addition of bathrooms on the buses, there is no longer a stop for food or bathroom break.
