With the recent opening of the new Coral Highway, the driving time between Santo Domingo and Punta Cana has been significantly reduced. You can now drive from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) to Casa de Campo, in La Romana, in only 45 minutes. Even though the new Coral Highway bypasses Higuey and goes straight to La Romana, it is not 100% complete. Eventually, you will also be able to bypass La Romana saving even more time.
As a result of the new highway, travel between Punta Cana and Santo Domingo is much more convenient.

Also, because of the shorter transportation time between Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, and the addition of bathrooms on the buses, there is no longer a stop for food or bathroom break.
